  • Rehabilitative Qigong and Tai Chi for beginners

Rehabilitative Qigong and Tai Chi for beginners

    September 4, 2024

Rehabilitative Qigong and Tai Chi involves simple, easy to learn movements. We will not become frustrated learning a complex choreographed form as is taught in classical Tai Chi. Rather, we will repeat a few basic movements. Through this repetition, we can learn to move with greater ease, confidence, and awareness. And by moving in a relaxed manner, we will begin to experience a state of healing. Also, the benefits of self massage, coordinating and deepening the breath, and meditation will be explored. Some benefits of this practice include improved balance, strength, coordination, flexibility, thinking, mood and more... These classes are appropriate for anyone with mild to moderate PD. No prior experience necessary.

    Facilitator: Gil Wette

I’ve been a practicing physical therapist since 1994. I have worked in my own private practice until recently when I took medical leave. I was diagnosed with PD in 2014 when I was 50 years old. Having experience in Tai Chi, my interest in this practice was revitalized after learning of my condition. Now I’m looking to share in the benefits I have gained from the practice of Rehabilitative Tai Chi and Qigong.

Please contact Gil for Zoom log in formation and class waiver.

Sunflower, New Mexico 1, 1935 by Georgia O'Keeffe - Paper ...Prairie Sage Rooms 2&3 - No Zoom is available for this workshop

    Join us to paint!

We'll be doing a sunflower painting by artist Georgia O’Keefe. With all your materials provided, Annie O’Brien Gonzalez and Kay Keyes Farrar will paint with you step by step to create your own masterpiece!

    About Annie O’Brien Gonzales

Annie is a professional painter, teacher and writer. She paints colorful and expressive floral, still life and landscape paintings. She paints intuitively, combining personal symbols and patterns with images from nature, which serves as a constant source of inspiration.

Her work is currently represented by Globe Gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe and has been shown in numerous juried art shows, collected by art lovers across the country and was recently included in a museum permanent collection. She has taught painting workshops for many years in her studio in Santa Fe, at Ghost Ranch, NM, where she has been an O’Keeffe Tour Guide, and the Georgia
O’Keeffe Museum, where she served as a Docent for 10 years. Annie has published many articles as well as two books on expressive painting with North Light Press available on Amazon. Recently, she and her husband moved back to Colorado where she paints in her studios in Loveland and the San Juan Mountains.

    About Kay Keyes Farrar

Inspiration is everywhere  - Spring flowers, snowy mountain tops, sparkling creeks, and sunlit faces. Capturing those moments with colorful light and expressive brushwork is a daily gift of gratitude.

Kay earned her BA in Fine Art, Art History and English from Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI.  Over the last twenty years she has studied with artists: Kevin Macpherson, Dawn Whitelaw, Scott Christensen, and Quang Ho.
