Our regular support group meetings are the first Wednesday of each month, 10:30 – 12:30. We are grateful to now be back at the Fort Collins Senior Center! And for now, we are streaming the presentation portion of these monthly meetings on Zoom – details are in our newsletter.

The presentation will begin with explaining the basics of Medicare; what are the parts of Medicare, what is the difference between Medicare parts and Medicare plans? We will talk about the various costs of Medicare, premiums, deductibles and co-pays. Then we will talk about what changes have been announced for 2025.

I have been active in the senior industry for more than 20 years in various capacities. Former President of the Elder Care Network, facilitator of an Alzheimer’s support group, Chairman of the Board for the Partnership for Age Friendly Communities. I’ve worked for home care agencies as well as assisted living communities. I am presently with UCHealth/Aspen Club for the last 5 years serving as their Community Health Coordinator and the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Coordinator for Northern Colorado.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a program that has been offered since 2008 in Larimer County and there are now hundreds of ‘graduates’. Caregivers meet for six weeks for 2 hours per week and learn how to:
- Identify and find ways to reduce stress
- Improve self-confidence in coping with caregiving demands
- Ways to communicate difficult emotions
- Find community resources
